LTC Jim Ruf (U.S. Army)

LTC Jim Ruf joins us to discuss developments in Interagency processes and linkages between the work he has been performing for the past nine months as Response Development Officer for the Department of State’s Office of the Coordinator for Reconstruction and Stability (S/CRS) and his prior experience as Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) Commander in Jalalabad, Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom (9/04-6/05).  Ruf was commissioned as an artillery officer through the Reserve Officer Training Corps in 1983 and branch transferred to Civil Affairs in 1998.  Prior to his current assignment, he spent 22 years in a variety of command and staff assignments, including deputy G3 352 Civil Affairs Command, Combined Joint Task Force 7 C9 operations officer Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Reserve Coordinator for Special Operations Command Joint Forces Command (SOCJFCOM).  Ruf received a B.A. in business marketing from Miami (Ohio) University and an M.A. in human resources development from Webster University.  He is a graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College, and will attend the Army War College in 2006.
